About the company

Our client is a biotechnology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Work the evening shift in a high-volume production laboratory, preparing samples, operating automated equipment and checking data quality so deliverables go out on schedule. The position suits a self-directed, hands-on problem solver with a firm grasp of laboratory fundamentals.

What you'll do

  • Receive incoming samples, record them in a tracking system and arrange them into plate formats.
  • Carry out library preparation on automated liquid handling equipment and load finished libraries onto sequencing instruments.
  • Monitor instrument runs, perform quality control checks and investigate samples that fail.
  • Redo sample preparation when needed so turnaround commitments are met.
  • Resolve equipment and protocol issues independently and in real time during the shift.
  • Keep the lab supplied with consumables and reagents.
  • Recommend protocol improvements and share feedback with neighboring technical teams.

What we're looking for

  • At least 2 years of post-degree, hands-on molecular biology bench work, such as nucleic acid extraction, purification, PCR or sequencing, in an industry or production setting; purely academic lab experience does not qualify.
  • Background in high-throughput laboratories managing large numbers of samples at a quick pace.
  • Experience working with laboratory automation.
  • Strong grasp of the reasoning behind each procedure so you can diagnose problems alone during off-peak hours.
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in a life-science discipline.
  • Ability to commit to a fixed on-site evening schedule, five days a week.
  • Work authorization in the U.S.

Bonus points

  • Experience working in a startup environment.
  • Hands-on experience with common liquid handling robots.
  • A master's degree in a life-science discipline.

Benefits

  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Health, dental and vision coverage
  • Life insurance and mental health coverage

Location and work model

  • South San Francisco, CA, United States
  • On-site, 5 days per week in office
  • Evening shift
  • Full-time

Compensation, as the posting describes it

  • Equity
  • Retirement plan with company match
