About the company

Our client is a software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Build and own the backend services that run high-volume automated jobs, covering scheduling, queues, third-party integrations, and the scale, data integrity and uptime of the system. You will take work from scoping through delivery, help shape the platform's architecture, and partner closely with the technical lead on production-grade infrastructure. This is a highly autonomous, senior-level position.

What you'll do

  • Design and build the core backend engine that runs customer jobs, including scheduling, queues and retries.
  • Build and maintain integrations with external data providers, handling rate limits, failures and per-call cost.
  • Take features from scoping through to delivery and into production.
  • Influence how the platform is structured so it holds up under growing load and keeps records accurate.
  • Collaborate tightly with the technical leader on infrastructure that handles heavy traffic.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup, including as a founder or founding engineer.
  • Track record of shipping large-scale background processing or data movement systems in live environments.
  • Experience with Effect or functional TypeScript.
  • Hands-on record of keeping heavily loaded server-side systems fast, accurate and dependable in production.
  • Able to work hybrid in San Francisco.

Benefits

  • Health benefits for employees and dependents

Location and work model

  • San Francisco, California, United States
  • Hybrid (in-person part of the week)
  • Full-time
