About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a docket of lien matters on the defense side of California workers' compensation, handling hearing appearances, negotiation, drafting and ongoing client updates. The position is performed remotely and suits someone comfortable working independently.

What you'll do

  • Take a lien docket from first file review through to closure.
  • Calculate permanent disability ratings, review medical records and apply apportionment principles.
  • Attend hearings and conferences before workers' compensation judges on behalf of clients.
  • Negotiate with opposing lien parties to settle outstanding disputes.
  • Prepare settlement paperwork, declarations, position statements and related filings.
  • Keep clients informed with prompt updates and regular written case summaries.

What we're looking for

  • At least 3 years of California workers' compensation defense experience.
  • Substantive hearing appearances before workers' compensation judges within the last 2 years.
  • Independent handling of a lien caseload within the last 2 years.
  • Solid skill in rating permanent disability with the AMA Guides.
  • Demonstrated success settling liens, whether through negotiation or by litigating them.
  • Defense-side background; experience limited to the applicant side is not a match.
  • Located in California.
  • Available for full-time work.

Bonus points

  • Prior experience at a California workers' compensation defense firm or carrier.

Location and work model

  • Remote (US)
