About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Act as a trusted legal adviser handling both contested matters and document-based work, with full ownership of an individual caseload. The position also includes some contribution to the firm's visibility through writing and speaking.

What you'll do

  • Counsel client boards and their managers on a wide range of legal questions.
  • Manage litigation in areas such as real estate disputes, construction-related claims, creditor-side bankruptcy and judgment enforcement.
  • Prepare and review corporate and property-related paperwork, including governance opinions and foundational organizational documents.
  • Guide clients on statutory compliance, reading governing documents and sound governance practice.
  • Reply promptly to client questions, within one business day, while running your own matters with little oversight.
  • Support firm visibility by authoring published pieces and speaking at industry events.
  • Collaborate with senior partners and support staff to achieve good results for clients.

What we're looking for

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in litigation and/or transactional legal work.
  • Hands-on civil litigation background covering motions, discovery and trial preparation.
  • Grounding in corporate governance or real estate law.
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Polished, persuasive written work, with a sample available on request.
  • Self-directed working style, comfortable working from home full-time without close supervision.
  • Openness to feedback and careful adherence to direction.
  • Dependable communication habits and a commitment to quick turnaround.
  • Enthusiasm for learning a new area of practice.
  • Based in or near Southern California, with Los Angeles preferred.
  • Ability to meet an annual billable hours target of 1,800.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Bonus points

  • Background in community association or homeowner association law.
  • Experience with creditor-side bankruptcy or judgment collections.
  • Experience with construction defect litigation.
  • Familiarity with California community association statutes or recorded covenants.
  • Experience writing for publication or marketing.
  • Public speaking or teaching experience.
