Baselayer's hiring story is split across two offices and two kinds of identity work. San Francisco has the technical roles, including three senior seats tied to agent identity, AI enrichment, and the identity graph. New York has the commercial and customer-facing team.

On September 22, 2026, Crunchbase News reported Baselayer's $35 million Series A led by M13, with Picus Capital, Torch Capital, Afore Capital, and Matt Thompson of Socure participating. CEO Jonathan Awad told the publication the financing brought total funding to about $40 million. M13 also confirmed that it led the round. Baselayer's official Know Your Agent page describes the Agentic Identity Suite referenced in the funding report.

Baselayer's Greenhouse board, observed September 27, listed 13 jobs: five in San Francisco and eight in New York. All 13 listings were last updated before the funding report. Those dates do not establish when the roles first opened, but the current board cannot be credited to the financing announcement.

The salary spread is wide. Senior Engineer, Agentic Identity lists $230,000 to $340,000 plus equity in San Francisco. Data Engineer lists $120,000 to $150,000 plus equity, and Sr. Product Manager lists $210,000 to $290,000 plus equity. New York's Solutions Engineer range is $135,000 to $220,000 plus equity.

Sales compensation needs careful reading. The Business Development Representative lists a $70,000 to $90,000 salary plus equity and $110,000 to $150,000 OTE, explicitly defined as base plus commission. Account Executive lists a $120,000 to $170,000 salary plus equity and commissions separately, without an OTE figure. Do not compare the BDR's OTE directly with the AE's salary range.

Candidates should ask which product and manager own the role, how the two offices collaborate, and what portion of variable pay is realistically earned. The job board gives enough information to ask a sharper question than the funding announcement does.
