The most useful detail in a CFO announcement is the mandate. Delinea is asking Timothy Regan to lead global finance and strengthen commercial and operational discipline.
On September 23, Delinea announced Regan as Chief Financial Officer. Regan most recently served as Dropbox CFO from 2020 to 2025 and then as an adviser through early 2026. He joined Dropbox in 2016 as Chief Accounting Officer and helped guide its 2018 IPO, according to Delinea.
Delinea connects the mandate to its identity-security platform, which it says controls what AI agents, humans, and machines can do and for how long. The company also says it passed $500 million in annual recurring revenue in 2025, serves more than 9,000 customers, and counts more than two-thirds of the Fortune 100 among them.
The announcement does not define the work beneath Regan's mandate. That is where candidates should be specific. If you are considering a finance, revenue-operations, or business-systems role there, ask what the finance organization owns today: forecasting, deal review, billing, planning, pricing analysis, or internal controls. Ask how that work connects to the company's AI-agent positioning, and what success looks like in the first year.
For founders, the useful lesson is to make the executive brief concrete before opening the search. A recognizable background can establish credibility. Clear decisions, measures, and team ownership will determine whether the hire improves how the business runs.
