Moving more data through an AI data center takes more than chip research. PicoJool says its next phase includes product qualification, manufacturing and customer support, with teams and facilities expanding in the U.S. and Taiwan.

On September 24, 2026, PicoJool said it had raised a $27.5 million Series A led by Socratic Partners, with participation from Hudson River Trading. The PicoJool release distributed through Business Wire says the financing follows a $12 million seed round led by Playground Global and brings total funding to $39.5 million.

The company says it will expand teams and facilities in the United States and Taiwan, grow research and development, operations, sales, and marketing, and add capacity to qualify, manufacture, and support its products for hyperscalers and data center operators. PicoJool is developing optical chips and modules for moving data inside AI systems. It says it has started early sampling of its chip-level VCSEL products and is preparing products for qualification and production.

That sequence gives candidates better questions than the size of the round alone. Is a role working on research, customer qualification, manufacturing readiness, or commercial adoption? Which milestones need to be reached before a product moves from early sampling into production? How is ownership divided between the U.S. and Taiwan teams? Those answers will show whether the job is still proving the technology, turning it into a repeatable product, or helping customers deploy it.

The same discipline matters for founders. If the funding supports several functions in two countries, each search needs a clear milestone and decision owner. Otherwise, candidates hear a broad expansion story but cannot tell what they are being hired to accomplish.

PicoJool has not published specific openings or a hiring timetable in this announcement. If you are interested, ask which team is hiring first and what that team's next product milestone is. That is a better basis for a career decision than assuming every function will expand at the same pace.
